In this seminar, you will learn Power Query from basic level with importing data from different data sources. You will learn about different types of  data transformations available in Query Editor. After this seminar you will be able to implement any types of data transformation through Power Query in Excel or Power BI.

The case study will be focused to a retail company who has both B2C and B2B channels but is struggling with the sales performance versus their competitors. The company has a huge data set with the sales details but the information is not organized in a format that the leadership team can review the data to identify the weaknesses.

For this reason the company is hiring a Financial Controller who is expert in Power Query with the task to transform the data and help the leadership team to take the necessary actions to improve the performance of the company.

This is a hands-on training that moves through different cases of multi-sheet, multi-file and multi-format raw data, focusing on applying custom filters to prepare data to for integration into Power Pivot  for Excel and PowerBI tools. In this workshop you will have the chance to manipulate data, plus you will get a glimpse of M language, the programming language of Power Query.

We will demonstrate how you can avoid time-consuming and repetitive data manipulations, allowing you to focus on more important aspects and explore the new capabilities Microsoft Excel has to offer to improve the quality of our data and business analysis.

What is Power Query?

Power Query is an add-in for Excel 2010/2013, and comes pre-installed as “Get and Transform” in Excel 2016. This is a very powerful tool that allows you to gather, cleanse an process data prior to loading into Excel in a way that was never possible before. It is surprisingly easy to get into and addictive once you do – once you get the hang of it, you will see every data challenge as a job for Power Query!

Power Query provides data discovery, data transformation and enrichment for the desktop to the cloud.  The standard Power Query features are: Easily discover, combine, and refine data for better analysis in Excel.
